3-Layer Non-Medical Face Masks Recommended by Health Canada

Winter is fast approaching. Faster than we would like it. As we will be spending more time inside, the Public Health Agency of Canada is encouraging the use of three-layer non-medical face masks.

The new recommendations have updated the Canadian guidelines for non-medical masks. It is now suggested that face masks be made of two layers of tightly woven material like cotton or silk and that the middle layer should be a non-woven material, such as a coffee filter.

Protective Non-Medical Masks with a Pocket for Filters

Nathon Kong's reusable silk face masks are non-medical masks designed by microbiologist Nathon Kong in accordance with the guidelines of Health Canada The masks are made with two layers of silk and cotton. Built into the mask is a pocket where a non-woven filter material can be inserted. We recommend using a coffee filter, but you can use any filter you like for the masks third layer.
